THE MEWS

I was so facinated by the word Mews I googled it.
The word Mews can be used as both the singular and the plural. The term became part of the English language in 1377 because of the King's Mews at Charing Cross,  where the royal hawks and Falcones were housed. Later it came to mean the stables where horses were kept with living quarters above the stables. In time many of these were converted into apartments.

Today we still have the the Royal Mews  on the grounds of Buckingham Palace. Londerners love Mews style dwellings and they are much sought after.
